Which E-Commerce Website Builder is the Best?

Hi Entrepreneur!

Are you starting an online store or want to give your online store a new look? Today, I’m going to compare pricing and features of 4 well-known e-commerce website builders and 4 self-hosted Wordpress (WooCommerce) options. Feel free to scroll down below to my thoughts on each one.

Squarespace

This is the most aesthetically pleasing website builder while at the same time user-friendly. I use Squarespace in a while but would love to give it a try in the future. An SSL is included with all packages and it doesn't seem to have a limit on the number of visitors. Price $12 - $40/month

August 2024 Update: I use Squarespace every single day. I love it and the e-commerce features keep getting better and better. I’ve helped several clients get their products and services on their websites. They have the 7.1 builder which has made the aesthetics even better. Squarespace offers 14-day free trials and access to the builder for up to 6 months with a free domain name. To add your custom domain and sell products you will need an active paid plan. I recommend business and commerce plans to my clients.
Price $18- $52/month

Wix

This is the easiest to use.  Drag-and-drop editing is definitely beginner-friendly. Some packages include SEO boosting and Google Ad credits.
Price $14 - $35/month

August 2024 Update: It is easy to add products and services to Wix. However, I don’t think it’s the easiest. Wix has added new features for project management which are exciting. They also have the new X builder that makes the overall website more aesthetic.
Price $16- $59/month; They offer enterprise accounts too

Shopify

Easy to set up, but expensive. Multiple users can access and make changes to the site. Does integrate with third-party POS systems like PayPal, Stripe and Square.
Price $29 - $299/month

August 2024 Update: Shopify is the easiest e-commerce website builder. Adding products and variations is pretty straightforward. I’ve made several Shopify stores for clients. I recently designed one for an online store that sold physical products and offered in-person workshops. This platform really can be used for a business that offers both products and services. There’s apps/plugins for nearly everything you could want to do with your online store.
Price $29- $299/month up to $2300/month for more complex businesses
